Government contracts for painting in Maryland

Painting contracts in Maryland typically cover interior repaints of office buildings, exterior coatings on military housing, lead-paint abatement at older federal facilities, and parking-lot striping. Federal posts in this category fall under NAICS 238320 (Painting and Wall Covering Contractors), and the bulk of the work flows to DoD housing offices, the GSA Public Buildings Service, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Most painting awards are small-business set-asides — federal buyers actively want regional shops, not nationwide painting chains.

Maryland currently has 21 open painting contracts in our database, with 17 added in the last 30 days. That's a steady cadence — enough flow to make automated alerting worthwhile rather than manual portal-checking. The most active buyers are State Highway Administration (6 open posts) and University of Maryland - College Park (3), with the rest spread across other federal civilian agencies, DoD components, and state and local departments active in Maryland.

Beyond federal opportunities, much of the painting work in Maryland is posted through eMaryland Marketplace Advantage (eMMA), with recurring buyers including the Maryland Department of Transportation, University System of Maryland campuses, and Maryland Stadium Authority. Maryland aggressively enforces MBE goals — most contracts carry a target percentage that prime contractors must subcontract to certified MBE firms. ContractRadar pulls federal postings from SAM.gov alongside state and local feeds so a painting contractor doesn't have to monitor each portal manually.
