Government contracts for electricians in Iowa

Electricians contracts in Iowa typically cover panel and switchgear upgrades, generator and transfer-switch installs, conduit and feeder runs on military bases, lighting retrofits at federal courthouses, and emergency repair IDIQs. Federal posts in this category fall under NAICS 238210 (Electrical Contractors and Other Wiring Installation Contractors), and the bulk of the work flows to DoD installations, the GSA Public Buildings Service, and VA medical centers. Many of these contracts are 8(a), HUBZone, or SDVOSB set-aside, which favors small electrical shops over national EPCs.

Iowa currently has 2 open electricians contracts in our database, with 2 added in the last 30 days. Volume in smaller markets is lumpy: a single base or facility can drive a quarter of annual postings. The most active buyers are Administrative Services, Dept (1 open posts) and City of Cedar Rapids (1), with the rest spread across other federal civilian agencies, DoD components, and state and local departments active in Iowa.

Beyond federal opportunities, much of the electricians work in Iowa is posted through Iowa Vendor Self-Service (Iowa DAS), with recurring buyers including the Iowa Department of Transportation and Iowa state universities. Iowa runs targeted small-business set-asides for firms certified as TSB (Targeted Small Business) by the Iowa Economic Development Authority. ContractRadar pulls federal postings from SAM.gov alongside state and local feeds so an electrical contractor doesn't have to monitor each portal manually.
