Description
The City of New Braunfels administers its medical and dental benefits through a self funded health plan operating on a plan year of October 1 through September 30. Coverage is offered to full ‑ time active employees, retirees eligible under the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) pursuant to Texas Local Government Code Chapter 175, and COBRA participants. Eligible individuals may select from three plan options, including two PPO plans and one high deductible health plan (HDHP). The City currently has 749 benefits eligible employees, approximately 674 of whom are enrolled, along with 30 participating retirees. The City seeks benefit consultant services to help develop innovative cost saving strategies and financial controls that support long ‑ term sustainability of the self insurance fund while maintaining market competitive benefits to attract and retain employees. The consultant will provide ongoing evaluation of plan design and vendors, manage self ‑ insurance fund performance, support employee education efforts, and advance wellness initiatives.
