Description
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Quality Assurance (DQA) is seeking proposals for a Nurse Aide Registry and Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program, and intends to use the results of this process to award a Contract. The Code of Federal Regulations, Title 42 (42 CFR 483.150 - CFR 483.160) requires states to establish nurse aide training and testing requirements and to maintain a registry of nurse aides eligible to work in health care facilities. The resulting Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation Program will be customized and modified to meet the standards and conditions of the State of Wisconsin as outlined in Wis. Stat. Ch. 146 and Wis. Admin. Code DHS 129. DQA is responsible for regulating and reviewing Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Programs (NATCEP) and/or Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation Programs (NACEP) to ensure they meet federal and state standards. The regulation and review involves approving training curricula, overseeing competency testing, and maintaining the Nurse Aide Registry for all individuals who have satisfactorily completed NATCEP or NACEP. DQA utilizes the Nurse Aide Registry to identify whether a candidate is either eligible, or ineligible due to findings of misconduct, to work in federally certified facilities and/or state licensed facilities (e.g. nursing homes, home health agencies, hospices, etc.).
