ContractRadar Adds PennBid — 150+ Pennsylvania Local Agencies in One Source
ContractRadar now monitors PennBid — the statewide Pennsylvania e-procurement program used by 150+ local agencies across 34 Pennsylvania counties. It’s our first regional network source: a single venue that carries solicitations for townships, boroughs, water and sewer authorities, councils of governments, and counties all in one place. Every posting is attributed to the actual buyer, synced daily, and matched against your profile like any other source.
What PennBid is
PennBid is a shared e-procurement program that Pennsylvania local governments use to advertise and receive bids. Instead of every township and authority running its own portal, they post through one common venue — so a single source covers a huge slice of Pennsylvania’s local contracting, the part that never shows up on the statewide PA eMarketplace. The buyers skew exactly toward the kind of hands-on work small contractors chase: road programs, paving, stormwater and sewer repair, water main replacement, facility maintenance, and public-works construction.
Across the solicitations open when we added PennBid, we counted 150+ distinct local buyers in 34 Pennsylvania counties — including Delaware County in the Philadelphia metro, plus buyers around Pittsburgh, the Lehigh Valley, Harrisburg, Lancaster, and the northeast. (Those are our own counts from the live listings, not a marketing figure.) The set grows over time as more agencies post — every buyer’s solicitations flow into your matches automatically, and we broaden the county coverage on our map as new areas show up.
Why it matters for trades and small contractors
Local government is where a lot of the most winnable work lives. A borough repaving a few streets or an authority relining a sewer main writes contracts that a two-truck outfit can actually bid — and there’s far less competition than on a statewide IT or construction megaproject. The problem has always been finding those bids: they’re scattered across hundreds of tiny agencies. PennBid concentrates them, and ContractRadar reads the whole program every day.
Because we attribute each opportunity to its real buyer — “Township of Haverford, Delaware County,” “Capital Region Water, Dauphin County,” “County of Bucks” — you see exactly who is buying, not just “a Pennsylvania agency.” That buyer name flows into our matching, so a landscaper, an excavation contractor, or a plumbing outfit gets ranked against the postings that actually fit their work.
How ContractRadar monitors PennBid
We sync the PennBid listings daily and run every solicitation through our AI matching pipeline, scoring each one against your business profile — your NAICS codes, keywords, and service description. Strong matches land in your opportunities dashboard and your daily email alert, clearly labeled and linked straight to the listing on the PennBid portal.
PennBid sits alongside our statewide Pennsylvania coverage. If you also want to bid on Commonwealth-level work, our guide to Pennsylvania state contracts covers PA eMarketplace, Small Diverse Business certification, and how the state side works.
