Description

The Governing Board of the St. Johns River Water Management District is requesting sealed quotes for a per ton timber sale comprised of approximately 36.1 acres (“Sale Area”) within the Longleaf Flatwoods Reserve, situated west of County Road 325, in Alachua County, Florida. The Sale Area is in Section 9; Township 11 South; Range 21 East. Sale boundaries include roads and firebreaks. (Maps are included in the attached agreement.) This timber salvage is due to an Ips beetle infestation. Harvest boundaries are categorized as either Primary or Optional. The Primary area is approximately 36.1 acres in size and designated for clearcut harvest of dead, dying, and green pine. The buyer is not obligated to harvest hardwood trees within this area. Within the Optional area, the buyer may cross the Primary boundary to harvest dead pine only; green pine is not available for harvest. The District’s Project Manager will determine the allowable extent of harvesting within the Optional area. All operations must commence within fourteen (14) calendar days of contract execution. The District estimates the volume of timber conveyed in this Agreement to be 860 tons of pine pulpwood, 126 tons of chip-n-saw, 1,550 tons of saw-timber, but there is no guarantee that the volume is present.
