The Washington County Natural Resources Department is seeking bids to provide improved lake access and park facilities meeting current American with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements to Friess Lake through Washington County’s Glacier Hills County Park located at 1664 Friess Lake Rd, Hubertus, WI 53033. This project generally consists of demolition of about 555 feet of current roadway, parking lot, and concrete walkway; the construction of a new asphalt roadway, parking area with permeable pavers, ADA concrete walkway, concrete stairway with railings, landing for new dock, rain garden bioretention basin, erosion control, landscaping, bollard lighting, and pit toilet. All work of this request shall be substantially completed to Washington County’s satisfaction by May 28, 2027, and final completion by September 30, 2027. However, no construction activity that will disrupt the cabin rentals and weddings will be allowed during the months of June, July and August of 2027 and if the project isn’t finished by May 28, 2027, the construction area must left in safe and usable condition to the extent it may be usable and fenced off where it is not usable to keep the public out of the unfinished area. MANDATORY A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held on October 15, 2026, at 10:00 AM (CT) at the Glacier Hills County Park at the address listed above. When you enter the park, follow the main road until you reach the wedding hall and can no longer continue straight. Turn right. Continue past the rental house (on your right) and proceed down the hill toward the cabins. Follow the road all the way to the bottom of the hill to the parking lot, then park in one of the spaces facing the lake. This will be the bidders only opportunity to see the project site, the site conditions and to take measurements for this project with County staff and Stantec present.
