Fielded systems rely on aging architecture, proprietary cabling, and limited processing capabilities at the edge. Consequently, the EUD is forced to absorb the entirety of application processing, edge-server hosting, message routing, video data links, and peripheral management. During high-tempo combat operations, this overreliance creates latency, power depletion, and reliability bottlenecks that can jeopardize the mission.
