THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY FOR PORT OF NOME PHASE 2 - DREDGING, NOME, ALASKA. OFFERS OR BIDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FOR THIS NOTICE. THIS IS NOT A PRE-SOLICITATION. The Alaska District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is conducting market research to facilitate a determination of acquisition strategy prior to releasing a solicitation for this anticipated project. The determination of acquisition strategy lies solely with the government and will be based on market research and information available to the government from other sources. Please note that this Sources Sought Notice is for information only and does not constitute a solicitation for competitive offers/bids and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. However, all interested parties who believe they can meet the requirement are invited to submit information describing their capability to provide the required services. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The Port of Nome Phase 2 - Dredging project consists of unclassified dredging to establish a new Deepwater Basin and expand the existing Outer Basin at the Port of Nome. The Base item includes dredging approximately 578,000 cubic yards of material to establish the Deepwater Basin at a design depth of -40 feet MLLW with a 2.0-foot allowable dredging tolerance (overdepth) establishing a maximum pay line of -42.0 feet MLLW. The Option item includes dredging approximately 346,000 cubic yards to expand the Outer Basin to a design depth of -28 feet MLLW, with a 1.0-foot allowable dredging tolerance establishing a maximum pay line of -29.0 feet MLLW. Dredging will occur directly against the newly constructed OpenCell� sheet pile docks. All dredged material will be placed in a designated nearshore placement area. Dredging limits for Phase 2 were established based on the maneuvering characteristics of the design fleet, factoring in vessel length, beam, turning radii, anticipated tug assistance, traffic density, and local wind conditions.
